# Get Started

> The in-dashboard onboarding checklist — the goals and steps that take a new organization from sign-up to a governed first request.

## What this is for

**Get Started** is the onboarding checklist a new organization sees in the dashboard. It tracks the goals and steps that take you from sign-up to a governed first request, checks each step against your live org state, and is where the Overview sends a tenant that has no gateways yet.

## Options

The checklist groups the setup steps, each of which Guardway marks done automatically once it detects the right state:

| Step | What it covers |
| - | - |
| **Deploy a gateway** | Register and run a gateway (see [Deploy](/guardway-gateway/deploy)). |
| **Connect a provider** | Add an LLM provider (see [Providers](/platform/configuration/providers)). |
| **Create an API key** | Issue a virtual key (see [API Keys](/platform/configuration/api-keys)). |
| **Make a first request** | Send traffic through the gateway. |
| **Connect source control** | GitHub (and scan a repo) or a SaaS source, feeding [Inventory](/discovery/overview). |
| **Enroll an endpoint** | Install the agent on a machine (see [Connect Endpoint](/endpoint-ai-risk/connect/overview)). |
| **Turn on protections** | Guardrails and AI Control for your policies. |

The exact goals and steps evolve; the checklist always reflects what your organization still needs.

## How to configure

**1. Open Get Started**

Select **Get Started** in the sidebar. A brand-new tenant lands here from the Overview.

**2. Work the steps**

Complete each step; Guardway re-checks it against your live state and marks it done. You can drive the same plan from chat — see [Claude Connector → Setup and onboarding](/platform/claude-connector#setup-and-onboarding).
